Operations Manager
General mission:
The Operations Manager (ROPS) has a direct impact on the company's bottom line to maximize profitability by supporting both the implementation of on-site projects and the sustainability of the product. The ROPS actively supports the Project Manager (or Site Manager/Intervention Manager) during the day-to-day implementation of operations, in accordance with requirements, to ensure optimal results for the products and services assigned to him/her.
Depending on the activities, he or she may also hold the position of Resource Manager and/or rely on one or more Group Managers. If this is not the case, the human resources management functions are directly assigned to him (cf. the position of group leader)
Significant activities:
Define and implement a multi-year resource plan according to the programmed activities; Deliver the integrated resource plan for on-site intervention personnel and equipment in their area of responsibility.
Provide certified human resources in accordance with the requirements of the client and Westinghouse
Ensure feedback from activities and implement appropriate actions to improve the quality of interventions and the reliability of equipment
Participate in the definition of the investments in intervention equipment necessary to meet the needs of the projects and the satisfaction of the customer
Provide an integrated procurement plan for materials and services for all projects; implement cost-effectiveness actions through efficient procurement and logistics practices.
Ensuring safety and regulatory compliance on Westinghouse job sites
Define and implement improvements to training, operational and maintenance practices in an efficiency approach
Implement business relationships with CNPEs and Central Contractors (DIPDE, UTO, etc.) in order to prepare and secure on-site operations
Implement business relationships with subcontractors to ensure the availability of qualified resources
Implement a process of continuous improvement of staff performance and skills
Responsibilities and Scope for Action:
Prepare and carry out on-site interventions in accordance with contractual requirements (deadlines, costs), in compliance with Safety, Security, and Quality,
You are responsible for the overall profitability of a portfolio of projects and the proper use of its resources.
Labour Relations:
The ROPS works closely with the product group and local support organizations.
You regularly interact with the project managers of the contracts for which you are responsible. Working with product managers, resource managers, and customer project managers, ROPS actively supports product development, marketing, and sales capabilities to maintain a competitive advantage.
Key competencies:
Knowledge: in-depth knowledge of nuclear services, good understanding of strategic and commercial axes.
Understanding of business and financial processes
Good knowledge of continuous improvement processes
Experience in planning and project management
Knowledge of the operational and regulatory needs of nuclear facilities
University-level degree in engineering or a related discipline. Typically 5-10 years of experience in service delivery or engineering
1/ Problem solving:
Use creative planning and resource management skills to address complex planning, skills selection, cost, and personnel issues.
Develop techniques and methods to optimize productivity, minimize costs while ensuring that personnel and equipment commitments are fulfilled in a qualitative manner, sometimes with very short notice
Resolve resource conflicts with shutdown managers and product managers in a way that does not compromise customer satisfaction and optimizes business volume
2/ Persuasion :
Ensure, both internally and externally, that projects are secure
Skills to deal transversally with and resolve resource conflicts
Motivate the workforce to work efficiently (quality – operation – training - ..)
Motivate the workforce to adapt to changing demands
Ability to improve staff performance through internal/external feedback to implement performance improvement techniques
