If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, Core Engineering is looking for an experienced Nuclear Engineer to join the Nuclear Design team and perform nuclear engineering standard and non-standard analysis work, including the delivery of products and services to internal and external customers.


Your Day-to-Day:

  • Embrace the nuclear culture – i.e., understand what makes nuclear energy special and unique, thereby requiring implementation of human performance tools and operating experience to produce high quality, error free customer deliverables and product solutions. 
  • Participation in training and education that will lead to technical qualifications in areas such as Nuclear Design, Core Monitoring Model Development, Reactor Engineering, and/or Software Development & Testing.
  • Routinely interface with external product users (including Reactor Core Designers, Station Reactor Engineers, and Reactor Operators), as well as internal users and product managers to understand customer needs and seek new ways improve their product experience. 
  • Perform standard and non-standard reload analysis work for US and international customers, following approved methodologies and procedures (METCOM, ESM, Fuels procedures), maintaining focus on nuclear safety and quality.
  • Perform engineering design and analysis and propose solutions to moderately complex problems that are not well defined.
  • Interface with customers and multi-functional project teams to resolve significant technical nuclear design issues.
  • Provide appropriate internal/external personnel with periodic updates and recommendations regarding nature and status of work.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to communicate status, problem resolution or promote related business products.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and align with product stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and implement changes in our products accordingly.  This may involve travel to customer sites, attending industry meetings/conferences, etc.
  • Identify and support business growth opportunities and present recommendations to management.
  • Support integration and development of technical descriptions in support of customer proposals.
  • Support, with the guidance of technical leaders, new or improved products/services utilizing knowledge of economic studies and recent technical developments.
  • Work with technical leaders to prepare technical documents for products/services.
  • Develop procedures, processes for implementing technical requirements.

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Nuclear Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience interfacing with customers.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Westinghouse nuclear code suite (APA)
  • Experience in a technical leadership role working on multi-discipline teams.
