Job Description
The OMS (Outage and Maintenance Services) department carries out complex maintenance or modification projects on our customers’ nuclear facilities in France and, more broadly, across Europe.
The Welding Engineer plays a central role in the development and implementation of innovative technical solutions. The incumbent is responsible for the design of high-value-added welding processes and tooling.
Main Responsibilities
1. Process and tooling development:
• Design, develop and qualify manual, mechanized or robotic welding processes for maintenance, repair or nuclear equipment installation projects.
• Prepare welding-related documents (WPS and PQR).
• Select suitable technologies and materials in accordance with technical specifications.
• Contribute to the design and development of specific tooling for welding operations.
• Prepare test programs for process development and qualification.
• Ensure process optimization to meet performance, quality and safety requirements.
2. Compliance and supervision:
• Ensure compliance with standards and codes (RCC-M, EN 1090, ISO 3834, ASME, etc.) and specific regulatory requirements.
• Supervise workshop development and qualification tests.
• Supervise the associated non-destructive testing (NDT) and destructive testing of completed welds.
• Contribute to the resolution of non-conformities and propose innovative solutions.
• Work with operations teams on operator training and on the preparation and execution of on-site activities.
• Participate in activities at customer sites when required.
3. Project management and coordination:
• Monitor welding-related activities in coordination with project teams.
• Contribute to budget preparation during the tender phase.
• Contribute to the preparation of project and outage schedules.
Candidate Profile
• Engineering degree with a specialization in welding.
• Willing to take on significant responsibilities across varied and complex projects.
• Strong interest in hands-on field activities.
Education
• Engineering degree in metallurgy, welding or materials science.
• IWE (International Welding Engineer) certification or equivalent.
Technical Skills
• Proven experience in welding process development.
• Knowledge of mechanized or robotic welding processes.
• Good command of materials and constraints specific to the nuclear sector (stainless steel, alloys, etc.).
• In-depth knowledge of welding standards and codes (RCC-M, EN 15614, ISO 14731, etc.).
• Proficiency in NDT technologies (ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing and liquid penetrant testing).
• Knowledge of mechanised welding equipment.
Soft Skills
• Innovative mindset and ability to solve complex problems.
• Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment.
• Strong interest in hands-on activities, whether in the workshop or on site.
Experience
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanized or robotic welding, ideally in the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industrial environment.
Languages
• Fluent French required (spoken communication and documentation).
• Fluent English required (spoken communication and documentation).
• Another European language would be an advantage
