CNC programmer

To program, using drawing files and packaged conversion software, set tools, prepare fixtures and jigs as required and machine precision components/parts that meet the engineered drawings in the time allotted by the Manufacturing Process Instruction, while adhering to Risk Assessment requirements as they apply to each operation or machine. Key Accountabilities - Adhere to all Risk Assessment requirements for the equipment being used.

- Consistently deliver acceptable parts in the time allowed.

- Support of apprentices and CNC Operators in set up and operation of equipment.

- Offer advice to design group when requested. - Recommend/adapt improvements in tools, processes, and procedures.

-Manage part program files complete with back up

- Contribute to Tool Box talks and other communications.

 

Job Scope Factors Key Experience and Qualifications

-Has a recognized Certification of Trade as a Machinist or evidence of experience by demonstrating a full knowledge of machining practices.

-Demonstrate in depth knowledge of file conversion software through practice or course completion.

-Has the skill to improvise and develop solutions to machine components with the condition and type of machine tool available.

-Demonstrate knowledge of safe handling of materials, machining practices, and the ability to recognize unsafe situations.

-Read and understand complex drawings and other instructions.

-Determine proper sequence of operations and machines to produce part.

-Identify different materials. -Communicate with others (peers, Supervisors and subordinates).

-Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.

-Design fixtures, tooling and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.

-Critical thinking; using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

-Complex problem solving; identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

-Speaking; talking to others to convey information effectively.
