About the Opportunity

 

Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada.  The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions.

 

What will you do?

Your day to day: 

  • Produce and review mechanical detail drawings and bills of materials
  • Completion of design tasks under the guidance of senior team members
  • Support development of design concepts
  • Work with peers to specify/evaluate appropriate purchased components
  • Review of designs and drawings for accuracy, material selection and manufacturability

 

What will you bring?

Who you are: 

  • Post-secondary education Diploma or Degree from a recognized Mechanical Engineering Technical Program in good academic standing, or have equivalent knowledge and experience
  • As a minimum you will be a Design Technologist with at least 2 to 5 years practical experience in the field of mechanical design

 

Experience in the following areas is expected:

  • Proficient in the use of 3D solid modeling and 2D drafting (preferably SolidWorks)
  • Proficient in understanding technical documents and specifications
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and their representation on drawings and in design documents including welding symbols and notations
  • Thorough knowledge of drafting principles and standards to support checking of drawings for compliance to applicable specifications

 

Experience in the following would be advantageous:

  • Preparation of detail drawings for special purpose equipment for nuclear applications under CSA N299.1
  • Ability to interpret and apply GD&T
  • Creation of detail drawings/schematics for electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems

 

This is a challenging position that will require a solid technical background and as you will be working as part of a team, strong interpersonal and communication abilities including literacy skills are essential. You will possess problem solving skills plus a creative yet methodical approach.
