Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this Principal Parts Specialist opportunity will be responsible to support the growing Spare Parts Business at Westinghouse Canada Manufacturing Operations in various aspects of bidding/proposal work as well as execution of awarded orders.


Your Day to Day:

 

BIDS AND PROPOSALS

  • Work closely with the Parts Product Line Manager to lead internal estimates for spare parts opportunities
  • Determine make/buy decisions for parts and components
  • Communicate appropriate information to Sourcing in order to solicit bids
  • Work within the SAP environment to create material masters and requisitions
  • Take ownership for the overall status of all estimates and expedite where necessary to meet customer due dates
  • Develop plans to minimize and mitigate exceptions and clarifications to bids
  • Coordinate with quality assurance to develop item specific QA plans and estimates
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce proposal cycle time

ACTIVE ORDERS

  • Oversee the successful launch of newly awarded Parts orders, including kickoff and initiation.
  • Collaborate with sales, project, engineering, design and operations in their planning processes and scheduling with work-in-progress production updates, fabrication completion and delivery updates.
  • Assist production leaders to create and instruct credible production plans and schedules that balance available capacity and resources. 
  • Plan and manage inventory for work in progress, including surplus and excess inventory. 
  • Assist other departments during execution (sourcing, inspection, Quality Assurance, production control) to resolve issues such as nonconformances
  • Timely release of internal deliverables to support production activities dependent on these documents to maintain delivery schedules.     
  • Support continuous improvement activities for planning, control, inventory, production and delivery lead times.

 

 

 

Who You Are:

 

  • 4+ years experience in project-based manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on Spare Parts Supply
  • Quality Assurance (specific to CSA N299) experience desired
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related technical field is required
  • Canadian Nuclear (CANDU) experience including site assignments a strong asset
  • Experience in production planning & control. 
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel
  • Inventory planning
  • Communicates well with others to convey information effectively.
  • Familiar with reading blueprints / drawings and schematics  
  • SAP or similar MRP system knowledge and experience an asset
