The Oxide Fuels business is looking to fill a vacancy working as key part of a well-supported team in a diverse environment within the most modern fuel fabrication facility in the world. The future for the business is very exciting with the opportunity to challenge themselves to safely deliver for customer an increasing orderbook of Uranium Dioxide powder whilst ensuring that we continue to strive for safer standards and higher quality and identify new opportunities for carrying out day to day opportunities. The role also provides the opportunity to work in new markets including Reprocessed Uranium Fuel, HALEU/LEU+ fuel and other next generation fuel types. The business has a track record of developing employees into senior positions in the organisation and outside the organisation and the successful candidate would be at the forefront of Nuclear Fuels engineering in the U.K.
Your Day to Day:
- Deputising for the Plant Manager where required
- Planning and executing daily plant operations in line with SIOP
- Maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety case requirements including the preparation and maintenance of safety case documents
- Improving all aspects of plant and personnel safety
- Defining, measuring and improving Key Performance Indicators (SQCPD)
- Process mapping for identification and delivery plant improvements
- Providing advice and guidance on technical aspects of plant operations including technical and operational problem solving
- Monitor and improve Cost of Poor Quality, Yield and Right First-Time metrics
- Liaison with external customer representatives and other stakeholders (internal and external

What you need to be successful at this role:
- Typically Engineering Degree (minimum 2:2) qualified or equivalent experience/knowledge in relevant discipline. Suitable, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
- 3 Years’ experience in production operations environment

Skills:
- Ideally knowledge and experience in operations management but other candidates will be considered
- A background of working within the chemical industry and awareness of the hazards, other, similar industries would be considered
- Knowledge of Nuclear Safety Regulation, Safety Cases for nuclear facilities and COMAH
- Strong interpersonal skills i.e. effective verbal and written communications, partnership working and ability to lead and influence teams and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Lean Manufacturing (Including Process Mapping), high performance leadership and practical problem-solving skills would be an advantage
