Role Description:

An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Services Craftsperson in the Electrical Distribution area within Utilities.

 

The individual will be expected to assist in the maintenance of the Electrical Distribution System across the whole site; work will also include the maintenance of the site street lighting and the requirement for cable sounding in support of the site’s excavation process.

 

The individual must be committed to personal safety and to the safety of the team.  The individual will have high standards in their approach to work, be reliable, enthusiastic, flexible and conscientious, with good communication skills and be able to work on their own with minimum supervision and within a small team. Due to the nature of the work the successful candidate must be prepared to undertake flexible working outside their normal working hours.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • The individual is required to have a working knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations:
  • Provide Electrical skills in support of the site facilities and assets.
  • Operate and maintain the site’s 11KV electrical distribution system.
  • Operate and maintain the site’s 415V electrical distribution system through to each operational plant.
  • Maintain the site street lighting system.
  • Carry out cable sounding and Electrical Banksman duties in support of the site’s excavation process.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the plant through 5S and structured problem solving.

Key Attributes and Skills:

  • Recognised craft engineering apprenticeship for Electrical / E&I craft status.
  • Knowledge of good maintenance systems and methods in the respective core trade.
  • A good understanding of Electrical Systems, associated hazards and basic safety requirements.
  • Proven ability to deliver work to high quality and prescribed timescales.
  • Good communication skills and team working is required as part of a flexible team.
  • The individual must be able to demonstrate a methodical approach to operations.

 

 

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:

  • A good overall working knowledge of the buildings and processes on the Springfields site would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the site’s Electrical Distribution System and the site layout would be an advantage.

 

Further

  • The applicant must be able to work in a controlled area (radiation and contamination).

 

Following the requisite training the individual will be expected to progress with Electrical Authorisation through to CAT A status which may take

upto a period of three to five years to obtain.
