Currently the company is privately owned by Brookfield Business Partners (BBU).  The Manager, Global Tax – Indirect Taxes, will principally assist the EMEA Tax Director with Indirect tax planning and compliance matters, and will also work closely with the Americas and Asia Tax, Global Trade Compliance and Global Finance.

The position can be located in UK or in Poland.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • EMEA VAT compliance and reporting, including managing outsourcing relationship for preparation of monthly and quarterly VAT returns and associated filings efficiently and accurately
  • Preparation of claims and VAT returns to overseas tax authorities for recovery of overseas VAT.
  • Develop EMEA indirect taxes standard procedures
  • Ensure Concur and P- card processes are VAT optimized
  • Being the first point of contact for all VAT queries and adding value to the business via solution-orientated, compliant and tax efficient advice provided across the EMEA group.
  • Providing VAT advisory support for projects in EMEA.
  • Flagging issues and opportunities; changes in rules to Director, Global Tax – EMEA to ensure compliance is maintained
  • Adopt and mandate continuous improvement mindset
  • More specifically, the Manager, Global Tax – Indirect Taxes, will be responsible for assisting with the following key activities:
  • Manage the Annual Indirect compliance cycle with the current outsource service provider and in conjunction with the Financial Controllers ensuring quality data and checks are performed.  
  • Seek to optimize, streamline and standardize EMEA VAT processes in all VAT and Customs workstreams e.g. codes, P Cards, Concur, Ariba and non Ariba purchases, Master data input
  • Support the preparation of LOA review documents and contractual terms for new cross border projects
  • Support Poland Shared Service Centre to provide optimal and efficient invoice processing right first time
  • Keep Global Tax Director – EMEA fully appraised of compliance status, and business issues to be attended to
  • Coordination of the non-US VAT tax compliance, including ensuring all significant indirect tax matters are communicated and identified for purposes of assessing uncertain tax positions and the accurate preparation of the income tax provision.
  • Manage VAT and Customs audits
  • Interfacing with and responding to business unit and other function personnel as VAT & Customs questions arise, including intercompany transfer pricing, contract review, Permanent Establishment (PE) risk control, and global deployment tax matters.
  • Reviewing significant non-routine transactions within EMEA, and to ensure that planning is coordinated and optimized on an EMEA basis.
  • Support the integration of business acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings.
  • Perform technical research and prepare written technical correspondence or memoranda to support the tax positions of the company
  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues and tax law developments.

 

 

 

Who You Are:

  • Degree level in accounting, law or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience. A combination of public accounting and large multinational experience a considerable plus.
  • ACA, CTA or equivalent.
  • Broad technical knowledge of EMEA VAT tax law and regulations and treaties.
  • Experience with a Public Company a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across international regions and cultures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly, and concisely communicate with Global Tax Directors and Global VP of Tax and the non-tax specialists, in the business
  • Works independently in a fast-paced collaborative environment, efficiently works within deadlines, and is a positive role model and mentor for tax staff.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills.
  • Adaptive, flexible, and able to function effectively in a highly complex global environment with a proven ability to multi-task.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and strong skills in Excel. Experience with SAP a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn systems and processes quickly.
