About the role:

The APx Project Engineering Director will report to the VP of Global Chief Engineering Services responsible for early planning, project setup, and technical actions related to upcoming APx projects. You will support ES Business Unit actions with potential customers understanding the design and technical requirements of products to guarantee a customer understanding within those processes, and set up the skills, qualifications and pipelines for future Project Engineering efforts.

You will oversee project planning, execution and monitoring efforts in early project lifecycle implementing strategic plans to meet our financial and growth goals and establish organization processes, personnel requirements and pipelines to support planned efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee delivery of engineering projects

  • Guide engineering improvement collaborating to create and improve products and services compliant with industry standards, regulations, and best practices maintaining relationships with internal segments and Business Unit strategy personnel

  • Lead teams promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement managing performance and providing feedback to support professional development

  • Communicate w/ stakeholders, senior management, executives, clients and teams for updates and feedback, KPIs, prioritizing needs, presenting engineering plans, progress reports and results

  • Monitor costs and timelines, provide program updates for progress, risks, and effectiveness of spend, and submit progress reports required for decisions across the program and company

  • Manage program risks and establish risk profile, managing mitigation plans including unexpected outcomes.

  • Create processes, personnel requirements and pipelines to support planned efforts

  • Identify resource gaps and build team capacity to plan and implement the program, both matrix and direct resources

  • Manage resource allocation for personnel, equipment, and budgets

  • Establish and lead cross-functional team to guide projects for integration and alignment   

  • Implement processes for performance metrics and standard review and quality assurance processes that meet highest standards of engineering excellence

  • Develop effectiveness metrics and processes for future decisions data availability

  • Influence process changes for next cycle motivated by improvement and owner alignment

Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering or construction management

  • 15+ years' technical governance leadership, project implementation, process improvement and/or organization assessment execution, change management and fact based, structured decision-making process

  • Manage large, diverse teams of technical managerial, supervisory, professional and support staff

  • Relationships w/ customers, partners internal and external stakeholders and encouraging ideas and communication across functional teams

  • Nuclear / industrial safety and HuP mindset leading matrixed organizations with internal and external resources following policies, procedures, and guidelines for safety, health, environmental and quality assurance emphasizing personal work and work of others

  • Re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, developing strategies and procedures analyzing complex problems, interpreting operational needs, and developing integrated creative solutions

  • Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
