Your Day-to-Day:

This position is the supply chain subject matter expert which will support all of Westinghouse’s long duration energy storage (LDES) projects.  The category manager will support and be accountable for all bid and proposal efforts, sourcing strategies and implementation, including development of key suppliers to deliver the best value to the LDES projects. This position will interface with other category managers to leverage category spend globally, with a focus on cost efficiencies, product quality, innovation and the most effective supply chain models. Further, the category manager will develop and implement new products, processes, standards or operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of functional results.

 

The position takes direction from the Supply Chain Manager and/or Sr. Supply Chain Manager, and works to improve total cost, quality, delivery, and reliability to reach organizational goals.  Strong relationship skills are required to manage internal and external suppliers to provide timely and innovative solutions to meet business needs.

 

  • Primary relationship owner for suppliers for LDES projects, including US government awards.
  • Primary interface between LDES project team (project management, engineering, etc.) and supply chain.
  • Responsible for managing the segmentation of assigned spend into subcommodity groups, in collaboration with other category managers, to create levers to achieve operational excellence
  • Develops and maintains an overall category strategy to meet organizational goals by improving Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) while securing supply continuity through identifying and mitigating current and potential risks and opportunities in the commodity playbook.
  • Leads the execution of the category strategy through preferred supplier list (PSL), “right-sizing” non-preferred suppliers, and rewarding preferred partners with business awards tied to Long Term Agreements (LTA) with year over year improvements in cost, delivery, quality, service, and profitability.
  • Reviews analysis from PowerBI and other tools to create insights into the drivers of assign commodity and implications to  spend and cost projections to use as levers with current and future supply base.
  • Conducts regular business reviews (SRM) with key and strategic suppliers with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Creates presentations for supplier relationship management reviews, commodity playbooks, risk mitigation proposals, 4-Blockers, and supplier/commodity gap analysis. 
  • Responsible for creating and executing a plan to deliver annual business results against metrics of payment terms, on-time delivery, productivity, inflation, and other metrics as determined by Procurement Leadership.
  • Research, track, and communicate industry trends, best practices, applicable indices, and competitive offerings to identify opportunities for innovation, competitive advantage, and increased overall productivity
  • Develop a productive working relationship with peers on other teams: Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Procurement

 

Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • BA/BS degree required (Preferably MBA)
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience (preferably within industries with large, complex engineering, procurement, and construction projects, with a focus on procurement); 10 plus year preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in negotiations including RFI, RFP, RFQ and contract development
  • US Government contracting experience preferred.  Including familiarity with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) requirements for procurement
  • Strong Negotiating, Benchmarking, Market Analysis, Competitive Intelligence, and Procurement Projects Management skills
  • Experience with vendor management including purchase order issuance, execution, and administration
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze and draw conclusions from quantitative data
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and engage at all organizational levels, ability to cultivate and sustain high quality professional relationships
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team environment
  • Must be creative and have strong problem-solving skills along with time-management, prioritizing, planning and self-direction skills
  • Ability to maintain long term productive relationship with suppliers (SRM)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Project
  • ERP system or similar system experience in a global environment is beneficial (SAP & Ariba)
