The Senior Manager, Work Environment Effectveness is responsible for leading and providing Nuclear Safety Culture (NSC) programmatic direction, oversight and support for Westinghouse facilities and locations including early detection of high-risk areas for intervention and improvement. Additionally, responsible for leading and managing the overall effective administration and operation of the Employee Concerns Program.  Programs must align with regulatory and customer standards for the purposes of nuclear safety and quality.  This is a US Remote role.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Accountable to develop and implement global strategies, procedures, metrics and controls for activities needed to meet regulatory and customer expectations as well as Westinghouse expectations regarding NSC traits, attributes, and behaviors with an emphasis on early detection of high-risk areas for intervention and improvement.
  • Responsible and accountable to work with concern submitters, company executive management, managers, subject matter experts, attorneys, and others as necessary to ensure concerns are identified, action plans to investigate concerns are developed and implemented, and recommendations to resolve concerns are developed and executed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible to prepare, submit and interface with regulators regarding allegations, providing requested information, surveys, and investigations.
  • Establishes and maintains communication of NSC/ECP material globally such as safety briefs, newsletters, committee meetings, liaisons, training, etc. to integrate NSC/ECP into daily work processes.
  • Utilizes surveys and other data to measure and communicate effectively to senior management regarding the status of nuclear safety culture.
  • Owns short-term strategy execution and operational direction. Problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis.
  • Accountable to influence others to accept practices and approaches, corrective actions, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.

 

Who You Are:

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (such as engineering, science, legal, criminal justice, etc.) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 10 years commercial nuclear power operations and/or related regulatory experience. This can be a combination of experience with commercial nuclear power plants, related regulatory agency and/or nuclear manufacturing facilities.
  • 4 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experienced in regulatory interface.
  • Experienced in nuclear operations/manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge/experience of the INPO/WANO traits of a healthy NSC.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills sufficient for complex investigations and problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and analyze data and surveys in support of metrics which prompt positive change.
  • Recognized as approachable and respected member of management for integrity and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated communication and negotiating skills sufficient to positively influence Business Unit/functions in NSC, driving performance improvements to ensure highest level performance in safety and quality.
  • Demonstrated listening skills as well as ability to articulate explanations.
  • Proficient in computer and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experienced in managing conflict.
  • Able to independently travel a minimum of 10% of the time including domestically and internationally.
