About the role:
As the Welding Engineering Supervisor, you will be the first-line engineering leader for the Welding Engineering team within the Building Engineering & Physical Design (BEPD) organization. You will lead a team of engineers supporting welding-related engineering activities across Westinghouse, including project execution, technical support, workforce development, and process improvement.
You will report to the BEPD Director and work with the Welding Consulting Engineer, Welding Engineering Technical Lead, project teams, and other functional organizations throughout Westinghouse. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote flexibility with regular on-site collaboration based at either our Rock Hill, SC or Cranberry Township, PA office locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Welding Engineering team, including direct reports supporting welding engineering activities across multiple Westinghouse programs and projects.
- Manage team workload, priorities, staffing plans, schedule commitments, and delivery expectations across a diverse portfolio of work.
- Lead workforce planning activities for the Welding Engineering team, including recruiting, onboarding, succession planning, capability development, and supporting our continued growth.
- Support hiring, mentoring, coaching, performance management, career development, and technical growth of team members.
- Partner with the Welding Engineering Consulting Engineer and Technical Leads to support work planning, technical execution, prioritization, and long-term capability development.
- Coordinate with project teams, engineering organizations, manufacturing, supply chain, and other partners to ensure support of project goals and new business needs.
- Support engineering activities related to welding design, fabrication support, inspections, qualifications, procedures, and issue resolution.
- Drive continuous improvement of welding processes, tools, procedures, documentation, lessons learned, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Monitor team performance, identify resource needs and capability gaps, and develop plans to support future workload demands and business growth. Recent projects have included welding training, supplier qualification support, and increased structural module activities.
- Communicate team status, risks, priorities, staffing needs, and recommendations to BEPD leadership and project partners.
- Support department programs and contribute to the continued growth and success of the BEPD organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Welding, Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline) required.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in engineering, project execution, technical leadership, or people leadership.
- Previous experience leading teams, coordinating resources, and executing work.
- Experience with hiring, employee development, workforce planning, or leading growing engineering organizations is preferred.
- Working knowledge of welding processes, fabrication methods, engineering design, manufacturing, construction, AP1000 design, or related technical disciplines is preferred.
- Collaborate across organizations and geographies in a global engineering environment.
- Commitment to employee development, team engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Experience supporting nuclear, energy, manufacturing, industrial, or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $116,800 to $146,000 per year.
