About the role:

As a Radiation Engineering and Analysis intern you will be part of the REA team and support its continued growth. This is a paid 25 hour per week internship, with a total duration of 6 moths, starting in September. You will be eligible to receive course credit.

 

You will report to the Director of Radiation, Waste Management & Decommissioningand be located at our HQ in San Sebastián de los Reyes. This is a hybrid position.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Neutron transport calculations in and around the reactor vessel
    • Review plant drawings and build transport models.
    • Perform fluence, activation, heating rate, and dosimetry calculations.
    • Critically analyze results and produce technical documentation.
  • Radiation source term calculations
    • Post-irradiation compositions using ORIGEN, coolant activity...
  • Support for the Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) of retiring plants.
  • Radiation shielding calculations.
  • Decay heat analysis.
  • Operate Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) support:
    • Accident evaluation in compliance with Chapter 15 of NUREG-0800, related NRC Regulatory guides and Spanish Licensing requirements.
    • Set-point calculations for liquid and gaseous effluents monitors

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a bachelor or master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with Linux, programming, and computational simulation.
  • Experience with relevant computer codes (MCNP, SCALE...).
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
