Senior EHS Engineer

About the role:

As a Senior EHS Engineer you will maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS) and supporting selected activities within the Health & Safety (H&S) System across Westinghouse sites in Madrid and Tarragona.

You will report to the Spain EHS Manager and be located at Madrid.

Hybrid work schedule.

Main Responsibilities:

• Be a main contact for environmental issues to support the sites.

• Participate in meetings, workshops and working groups with Westinghouse colleagues from other countries.

• Promote environmental awareness throughout the organization through employee communications, participation, training and programming.

• Manage the EHS MS, waste management and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001certification and sites EHS procedures.

• Develop, implements environmental policies, programs, training, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and internal and external requirements.

• Implement hazardous waste management and hazardous waste shipment programs.

• Ensure that all required waste management and environmental compliance and monitoring data is maintained promptly.

• Identify, analyze, perform trending, and present environmental data to support monitoring to improve programs.

• Monitor main performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.

• Develop and implement strategies to reduce environmental risks at the sites.

• Develop working relationships with important external partners, regulatory bodies, and the local authorities.

• Participate in compliance assurance and EMS auditing programs and conduct routine informal facility inspections and sampling to monitor compliance on a real-time basis.

• Assume authority to monitor and terminate work activities related to regulatory compliance and environmental impact.

• Ensure investigation and reporting of environmental incidents including determination of cause and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

• Maintain and oversee keeping of environmental records.

• Support administrative issues related to other areas of EHS (H&S)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or related Sciences Master's in Environmental Management and Occupational Health & Safety Systems.

• 5 + years of experience working on ISO 14001 EMS and ISO 45001 H&SMS.Fluent Spanish and English.

• High knowledge on calculating carbon footprint and environmental and H&S regulations.

• Demonstrated analytical skill.
