About the role:
As a Civil & Structural Lead Engineer you will provide dedicated leadership, planning, and oversight for all civil/structural activities at SFL, establishing a single, accountable point of contact to coordinate execution, resolve issues, and maintain continuity for the site team.
You will report to the Manager, Facilities & Infrastructure Design and be located at Springfields.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scope & Estimate Development Leadership: Lead the development of scopes and estimates across BEPD sub‑disciplines. Work closely with Site Project Engineering to clarify requirements, address questions, and ensure accurate definition of work packages.
- Primary Civil/Structural Point of Contact: Serve as the main POC for all current and future civil/structural activities at SFL, ensuring clear, consistent communication and coordination with Business Unit teams and project site stakeholders.
- Scope & Estimate Development Leadership: Lead the development of scopes and estimates across BEPD sub‑disciplines. Work closely with Site Project Engineering to clarify requirements, address questions, and ensure accurate definition of work packages.
- Technical Leadership During Execution: Provide civil/structural technical direction throughout project execution. Guide engineering teams, support troubleshooting, and ensure quality and consistency of deliverables. Provide training and development to new engineers under the Institution of Civil Engineers standards, maintaining Supervising Civil Engineer (SCE) status.
- Collaboration with Technical Experts: Partner with subject matter experts to support all civil/structural needs and maintain alignment with BEPD technical standards.
- CSA Leadership for Site Planning: Serve as the CSA Lead for SFL Master Planning and Plot Planning activities, ensuring integrated site development and alignment with long-term facility strategy.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to Springfields Site Instructions (SSI) and regulatory requirements e.g. Office of Nuclear Regulators (ONR) & Environmental Agency (EA), for all CSA-related projects.
- Intelligent Customer (IC) Support: Provide IC support to both growth projects like RepU, as well as SFL “minor projects,” including initiatives such as the new energy centre and hydrogen facility.
- Project Participation: Participate in project-level activities, including schedule reviews, progress meetings, and coordination forums, to maintain visibility and support timely decision-making.
- Technical Leadership During Execution: Provide civil/structural technical direction throughout project execution. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Engineering Required
- Minimum 8 years applicable experience required; 10 plus years preferred.
- Experience leading complex engineering projects in both technical and operational aspects is required.
- Strong teamwork skills working across all levels of an organization and across other disciplines.
- Oral and written communication skills must be clear and concise
