HV Distribution Technician

As a HV Distribution Technician you will assist in the maintenance of the Electrical Distribution System across the whole site; work will also include the maintenance of the site street lighting and the requirement for cable sounding to support the site's excavation process.
You must be committed to personal safety and to the safety of the team. Due to the nature of the work, you will be asked to be prepared to undertake flexible working outside their normal working hours.
You will report to the Utilities Area Electrical Engineer and be located at Springfields in the Electrical Distribution area within Utilities.
Key Responsibilities:

You are required to have a working knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations:
-
Provide Electrical skills to support the site facilities and assets.
-
Operate and maintain the site's 11KV electrical distribution system.
-
Operate and maintain the site's 415V electrical distribution system through to each operational plant.

Primary and secondary injection testing of HV/LV protection including electro-mechanical, digital and numerical relays.

Complete and follow switching programs.
-
Manage dielectric withstand tests on HV equipment and cables.

Carry out cable spiking.

Inspection and testing of substation equipment.

Maintain the site street lighting system.

Perform cable sounding and Electrical Banksman duties in support of the site's excavation process.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of the plant through 5S and structured problem solving.
Qualifications:

Knowledge of the site's Electrical Distribution System and the site layout.

Recognized craft engineering apprenticeship for Electrical / E&I craft status.

Knowledge of good maintenance systems and methods in the respective core trade.

A good understanding of Electrical Systems, associated hazards and basic safety requirements.

Proven ability to deliver work to high quality and prescribed timescales.

Good communication skills and team working is required as part of a flexible team.

The individual must be able to demonstrate a methodical approach to electrical engineering.
