 Responsibilities

 

  • Calibration and repair of contamination monitors
  • Calibration and repair of activity in air monitors
  • Calibration and repair of swab counting equipment
  • Maintenance and repair of dust sampling units
  • Maintenance and repair of stack sampling cabinets
  • Writing and updating procedures associated with radiation instrumentation
  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
  • Managing and processing instrumentation for off-site calibrations
  • Handling and use of radioactive sources
  • Updating CMMS (Maximo) for radiation instruments
  • Provide advice for the maintenance, repair and calibration of radiation instruments
  • Liaising with different business units on site to facilitate calibration and repair of radiation instruments
  • Liaising with external contractors and businesses to facilitate the calibration and repair of radiation instruments

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

Essential:

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Electrical and Instrumentation
  • ONC/HNC in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Instrumentation background with knowledge and experience of the Nuclear Industry
  • Understanding of nuclear radiation

 

Desirable:

  • Category E Springfield’s electrical authorisation
  • Registered to carry out Portable Appliance Testing
  • Knowledge and understanding of Nuclear Site License conditions
  • Previous experience working on radiation instrumentation

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and to work independently
  • Able to prioritise and manage own workload and work concurrently on several projects
  • Ability to interpret and analyse data effectively
  • Consistently maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in their work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to establish relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • The ability to write well-structured reports that present clear data
  • Enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to delivering continuous improvement.
