As a Machinist you will be working for Westinghouse Electric Company at the Springfields site near Preston in the Main Workshops department.  The Main Workshops department support the site through manufacture and repair of machined components (one off to small batch) in a range of materials.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Set and operate a range of manual & CNC turning & milling machines (including programming) to produce components that meet drawing specification and tolerance.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Time served apprenticeship in machining (NVQ level 3).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a machinist role.
  • Reading and interpreting Engineering drawings including geometric tolerancing.
  • Manufacturing of components to meet drawing specification and tolerance.
  • Use of measuring equipment and gauges.
  • Working safely in an engineering machining environment.
  • Manual & CNC Turning (including programming)
  • Manual & CNC Milling (including programming)

 

Desirable experience:

 

  • Toolmaking
  • Operate Manual Horizontal/Vertical Boring Machines
  • Programming using XYZ ProtoTRAK system
  • Programming & Operating HAAS machines
  • Use of OneCNC CAD/CAM software
