As a Principal Safety Assessor - Criticality you will Provide and Manage Criticality Safety Assessment services and support to the Springfields Site. Working alongside the existing Principal Safety Assessor - Criticality.
You will report to the Senior Nuclear Safety Officer and be located at Springfields Fuel Site.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the development and modification of Criticality Safety Cases through authoring Criticality Safety Case documentation, including:

Hazard identification, Hazard Assessments (HAZANs), deterministic and quantitative assessments, designation of proportionate safety measures and ALARP justifications;

Produce Criticality Accident Alarm location and adequacy assessments;

Liaison with designers, engineering, plant operators and other specialist safety disciplines, e.g. Human Factors, Fire, Criticality, Radiological Shielding, Environmental, to produce and present coherent and comprehensive safety cases;

Provide direct and Intelligent Customer oversight of criticality safety assessment resource, including contractors, for existing facilities.

Provide oversight of framework contracts with supply chain.

Be an Intelligent Customer to support major projects.

Support the Senior Nuclear Safety Officer in managing the Springfields Site Safety Case Process including the Periodic Review program.

Provide Criticality Safety input to Management Safety Committees.

Support the Site Emergency response.

Provide Criticality Safety training to Site Personnel.

Conduct Criticality Safety Inspections.

Support appropriate national working groups e.g. Working Party on Criticality.

Support the ongoing development of Criticality Assessment methodology.
Qualifications:
-
You will be an experienced and experienced Criticality safety assessor with a proven track record of producing and overseeing the production of Criticality Safety Assessments.

Expertise in Criticality safety assessment techniques.
-
Experience working as part of a muti-discipline team producing integrated safety cases for nuclear facilities.

Experience of HAZOPs.
-
Experience using Monte-Carlo Neutronics codes e.g. MONK, MCNP.

In depth knowledge of relevant UK regulations and standards.

Mentor and leadership skills.

Flexible in approach to support delivery.

Degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent, with typically at least 5 years (SQEP 3) relevant nuclear safety experience.

Minimum SC Security Clearance.
