As a Product Design Group Engineer you will work as part of the Product Design Group engineering support team, responsible for nuclear fuel design, manufacturing route approval, qualification and change control for all fuel and component types manufactured at Springfields or in the fuel component supply chain.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess engineering changes at Springfields and throughout the fuel component supply

    chain.

  • Technical support, governance and oversight for fuel manufacturing activities at Springfields and throughout the fuel component supply chain.

  • Prepare and peer review technical reports for the justification of engineering changes.

  • Maintain fuel specifications and drawings for all fuel types and intermediate products.

  • Maintain the document control and bill of materials (SAP) systems.

  • Technical investigations into fuel and components quality issues.

  • Qualification planning and assessment of plant and process improvement projects.

  • Support Fuel and Fuel Component Gauge Design and Gauge procurement.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree or HNC in a relevant engineering/science discipline and have a desire for further learning.

  • You should have a strong questioning attitude and be able to challenge existing conditions and validate assumptions.

  • You should be able to communicate on technical and fuel quality related issues at all levels within the organisation and with external customers.

  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, geometric tolerances and fuel

  • specifications.

  • Working knowledge of fuel manufacturing processes including knowledge of UO2 conversion, pelleting and fuel fabrication lines.

  • Knowledge of fuel component materials and manufacturing routes.

  • Technical report writing skills.

  • Broad engineering knowledge of fuel design and manufacturing techniques.

  • Knowledge of site Auto CAD system and drawing registry.

  • Experience or involvement in apparent / root cause analysis investigations.
