As a Project Controls Manager, you will provide expert project controls support across a portfolio of decommissioning and capital investment projects, planning, scheduling, risk management, governance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. You will support delivery of project objectives through project controls processes while maintaining compliance with regulatory, organisational, and client requirements. You will be based at Springfields Fuel site near Preston. You will report to the Head of Project Controls, Programme Controls Manager, or Project Manager, depending on the project structure and assignment.
Responsibilities:
Management of Department Personnel
- Show good personal interactions skills with all team members. Staff, Agency & Contractor, and third-party organisation individuals.
- Set clear goals, holding individuals to account and provide frequent honest feedback.
- Lead by example and look to enhance the team culture.
- Look to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, maintain, and optimise project schedules, monitor progress and schedule performance, and identify risks, opportunities, and improvement actions.
Risk Management
- Facilitate project risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities.
- Maintain project risk registers and perform quantitative risk analysis.
- Utilise risk management tools including:
- Pertmaster
- ARM
- KBR Risk Management methodologies
Cost & Capital Programme Controls
- Help develop and manage CAPEX programmes.
- Coordinate capital plan compilation and forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with organisational stage-gate governance processes.
- Prepare and deliver monthly project performance reporting.
Systems & Data Management
- Maintain and utilise SAP, specifically the Project Systems (PS) module, to support project cost and performance management.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of project controls data and reporting outputs.
Decommissioning Project Support
- Provide project controls expertise to nuclear decommissioning activities.
- Support interactions with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and other external partners.
- Ensure understanding and compliance with Site Stakeholder Advisory and Assurance requirements (SSAL).
Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with project managers, teams, senior leadership, regulators, and external partners.
- Engage with the wider global project controls community to share knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Support collaborative working across multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Project management or project controls experience within complex programmes or projects.
- Experience with project planning and scheduling techniques.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Working knowledge of SAP Project Systems (PS).
- Project Reports
- Purchase Requisition/Order approval.
- Project structure construction and release, WBS/CBS, Network
- Experience of project risk management and quantitative risk analysis.
- Understanding of capital investment (CAPEX) project delivery.
- Experience of monthly project performance reporting.
- Knowledge of stage-gate governance processes.
- Understanding of organisational structures and project delivery frameworks.
- Knowledge of site operations and site stakeholder environments.
Qualifications:
- Experience in the nuclear, regulated, infrastructure, engineering, or major projects sectors.
- Knowledge of NDA governance and reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting decommissioning programmes.
- Familiarity with Pertmaster, Associate in Risk Management, and KBR risk methodologies and tools.
