As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will join the Business Growth and Diversification team at our Springfields site near Preston, supporting business growth through technical bid development, process improvement, and project delivery activities. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will contribute to process optimisation, manufacturing capability development, technical studies, and the successful delivery of growth initiatives in a highly regulated industry. This role provides structured exposure to complex manufacturing and nuclear operations while supporting both business growth and project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Experience supporting process, production, manufacturing, or project engineering activities within a regulated industry.
- Understanding of process engineering principles within manufacturing, chemical, mechanical, electrical, control, process, or nuclear environments.
- Experience gathering, analysing, and interpreting operational and process data to support decision-making.
- Experience with process mapping, value stream mapping, and manufacturing process documentation.
- Ability to develop and maintain process maps, flow diagrams, material balances, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of mass and energy balance principles and their application to manufacturing and production processes.
- Knowledge of process optimisation, efficiency improvement, cost reduction, and operational performance initiatives.
- Familiarity with manufacturability assessments, process capability analysis, cycle time evaluation, and production readiness reviews.
- Understanding of requirements management, systems engineering principles, and engineering lifecycle processes.
- Experience contributing to feasibility studies, concept evaluations, optioneering activities, and technical design development.
- Ability to prepare and review technical reports, engineering calculations, design documentation, and hazard assessments.
- Experience supporting project delivery activities and working packages within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ability to work effectively with operations, engineering, safety, and project stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Working knowledge of the nuclear, manufacturing, process, energy, or other highly regulated sectors is desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Progress towards professional accreditation or chartership is advantageous.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline, such as Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Control, Nuclear, Process Engineering, or a similar field.
- Typically 3-6 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience within manufacturing, process, energy, nuclear, or other regulated environments is desirable.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status or membership of a recognised professional institution is advantageous.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience will also be considered.
