If you are experienced in providing radiological and chemotoxic safety assessment services and support join us! We would like to hire the Safety Assessment Advisor (Radiological & Chemotoxic) to support delivery of the Site program for the preparation and review of Safety Cases. This role reports to the Principal Safety Advisor.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Supporting the development and modification of safety cases through authoring and verifying Safety Case documentation, including:
  • Hazard identification, Hazard Assessments (HAZANs), deterministic and quantitative assessments, designation of proportionate safety measures and ALARP justification 
  • Conducting Radiological and Chemotoxic safety assessments for both internal and external hazards
  • Contributing to the development of Safety Case strategies and/or Safety Case arguments
  • Liaison with engineering, plant operators and other specialist safety disciplines, e.g. Human Factors, Fire, Criticality, Radiological Shielding, Environmental, to present coherent and comprehensive safety cases
  • Support to the Springfields Site Safety Case Process including the Periodic Review program
  • Support to Site Personnel in the implementation of safety Case Limits and Copnditions

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • You will be a skilled and experienced radiological/chemotoxic safety assessor who has excellent report writing skills and mentoring abilities
  • Degree (min 2:2) in a relevant discipline or equivalent, with typically at least 3 years (SQEP 2) relevant nuclear safety experience
  • Expertise in radiological/chemotoxic safety techniques
  • Demonstrable experience of Safety Case production and management for all stages of plant lifecycle from concept design to decommissioning, hazard identification, fault analysis, Design Basis Accident (DBA) assessment, Barrier Analysis, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA), radiological/chemotoxic consequence assessment, development of safety functional requirements, ALARP assessment
  • Knowledge of relevant UK regulations and standards
  • Excellent customer service manner with strong listening and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible in approach to support effective delivery
  • HAZOP Chair/Scribe experience would be an advantage
  • Minimum SC Security Clearance
