Software Engineer

As a Control Systems Engineer you will provide support of the major OFC Supervisory Control Systems (MIS, CACS, MACC & OASIS), associated sub-systems (SCADA, Mimics) and the interfaces to site systems (Protos, NUMIS, LIMS). Provide the analysis, design and implementation of software modifications to meet customer requirements.

The holder of this position would be qualified to degree level. You will have a software engineering background and have a detailed practical knowledge of several common programming languages with a knowledge of C.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide first line support for the OFC Control Systems.

• Diagnose & resolve OFC Control System problems, including performing system recoveries following failures.

• Provide guidance to plant management and operators in the rectification of faults.

• Analyse user requirements and produce system specifications.

• Implement software modifications and improvements.

• Prepare and manage unit and system tests.

• Maintain configuration management documentation.

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with system analysis/design methods and able to work within different operating and development environments, particularly Windows Server 2019 (and above)

• Knowledge of older environments (for example VAX/VMS and Pascal) and less common development tools (Uniface) would be beneficial, as would knowledge of communications protocols (TCP/IP)

• Experience supporting computer systems in a production environment involving contact with users

• Knowledge of Systems Analysis & Design Methodology

• Knowledge of Programming (preferably C)

• Knowledge of Test Methodology

• Good timekeeping

• Accuracy

• Good standard of written English

• High degree of discipline regarding procedural compliance and the ability to maintain accurate written records
