[Position Summary]

 

APM (Assistant Project Manager)-Korea will assist the Onshore Project Manager (Onshore PM) in serving as the primary interface between Korean customers and Westinghouse global project teams, facilitating technical, commercial, and project-related coordination and communications. This position assists in the successful execution of nuclear power plant projects by coordinating customer interactions, supporting the resolution of technical and contractual issues, managing onshore activities, and helping ensure alignment between customer expectations and Westinghouse objectives.

 

[Key Responsibilities]

 

1. Project and Administrative Support

  • Provide direct support to the Onshore PM in day-to-day project execution, customer coordination, reporting, and issue management.
  • Prepare project status reports, meeting minutes, action item tracking, and customer correspondence as directed by the Onshore PM.
  • Coordinate internal and external meetings and follow up on commitments to ensure timely closure of action items.
  • Act on behalf of the Onshore PM when specifically delegated and authorized.

 

2. Technical Liaison & Customer Interface

  • Assist the Onshore PM in coordinating technical communications between Korean customers and Westinghouse engineering and project teams.
  • Monitor and facilitate customer reviews of Westinghouse technical documents and deliverables.
  • Coordinate the resolution of customer comments and technical inquiries to support project schedules.
  • Communicate customer concerns, technical issues, and recommendations to offshore project teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering organizations to develop timely and effective solutions to technical challenges.
  • Support the Onshore PM in representing and communicating Westinghouse technical positions to customers while maintaining a clear understanding of customer expectations.
  • Support licensing-related activities and interface with regulatory authorities as required.
  • Participate in technical meetings, project review meetings, and customer interface meetings in Korea, the Czech Republic, and the United States as required.
  • Maintain awareness of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup milestones and identify issues that may impact project schedules.

 

3. Project Execution & Contract Performance

  • Support the Onshore PM in ensuring that contractual obligations are executed in accordance with schedule, budget, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor project status across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and startup activities.
  • Coordinate between customers and project teams to resolve emerging issues promptly.
  • Support travel planning, logistics, and onshore activities for offshore project teams visiting Korea.

 

4. Project Planning & Resource Management

  • Support the Onshore PM in developing and maintaining project execution plans.
  • Assist with long-term and short-term resource planning, staffing strategies, and budget forecasting.
  • Coordinate workforce planning reviews with customers and internal stakeholders.

 

5. Commercial & Contract Support

  • Assist the Onshore PM in developing commercial strategies and positions for project-related issues.
  • Participate in customer discussions and negotiations regarding scope changes, contract amendments, variations, extra work, spare parts, and other commercial matters.
  • Assist in achieving mutually acceptable resolutions while protecting company interests.
  • Ensure commercial positions are communicated consistently and professionally to customers.
  • Escalate unresolved commercial disagreements through appropriate management channels.

 

 

 

6. Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Support the Onshore PM in developing and maintaining strong working relationships with customers, partners, subcontractors, and internal Westinghouse organizations.
  • Foster an environment of trust, transparency, and mutual respect.
  • Keep customers informed of project progress, key issues, and important developments.
  • Communicate customer feedback, concerns, and expectations effectively to project leadership.

 

7. Financial & Cost Management

  • Support the management of onshore project budgets and expenditures.
  • Monitor project costs, identify variances, and report potential risks to management.
  • Ensure timely issuance of invoices and collection of customer payments.
  • Support procurement activities and negotiate favorable terms and conditions with external suppliers when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with Westinghouse policies, procedures, and financial controls.

 

[Qualifications & Requirements]

 

1. Technical Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience required.
  • Broad knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and operations.
  • Strong technical background in Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems, particularly digital I&C and HMIS technologies.
  • Understanding of nuclear engineering, licensing, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Familiarity with customer engineering, procurement, and operational practices.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.

 

2. Problem Solving

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex technical, contractual, and project-related issues.
  • Ability to balance customer expectations with project and business objectives.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced international project environment.
  • Strong understanding of cultural differences and experience working across multinational organizations.

 

 

 

3. Communication & Influencing Skills

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate customer concerns to Westinghouse and advocate Westinghouse positions to customers.
  • Proven ability to build consensus and influence stakeholders in technically and commercially complex situations.
  • Capable of bridging cultural and organizational differences between Korean and Western business environments.

 

4. Preferred Experiences

  • Experience in supporting Project Managers on large-scale nuclear power plant projects.
  • Experience working with KHNP, Doosan Enerbility, KEPCO E&C, or other Korean nuclear industry stakeholders is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating multinational project teams and customer interfaces.
