The Trade Compliance Specialist, Asia will principally assist the Asia Compliance Officer with export and import programs and operations. This role will support the Asia Exports, Asia Imports, Global Classification, and Cybersecurity Programs. Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the main point of contact on Global Trade Compliance Team for coordination with CCIC for CCC exemptions on imports into China
  • Serve as the main point of contact for coordination with MOFCOM to address export and import licensing
  • Provide analytics on exports and imports to larger team
  • Incorporate Global Classification Program into local processes
  • Analyze export-controlled documentation
  • Provide export classifications for data  
  • Document and provide rationale for export classifications
  • Create and provide updates on projects to leadership
  • Assist Asia Trade Team with export reporting, training, communications, and related programs
  • Seek to optimize, streamline and standardize export review and classification procedures
  • Develop, implement and maintain company policies and procedures, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree required.

Years of Experience: 3+years or more of previous export compliance experience desired

Skills and Competencies: 

Technical knowledge of Chinese and U.S. export and import and customs laws and regulations required

Demonstrated ability to work across international regions and cultures.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly, proactively (timely), and concisely communicate with internal and external business partners.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced collaborative environment and efficiently works within deadlines.

Possesses strong organizational skills.

Adaptive, flexible, and able to function effectively in a highly complex global environment with a proven ability to multi-task.

Analytical skills and questioning attitude required.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and strong skills in Excel and SharePoint. Experience with SAP a must.

Demonstrated ability to learn systems and processes quickly.

Fluency in Chinese and English
