About the role:

 

We are seeking a dynamic, strategic leader to serve as the Director of Contract Management for the Kozloduy Project, overseeing all contract management activities within the Bulgaria Engineering Services Contract (ECS) and subsequent EP+C Contract. Reporting directly to the VP Commercial Contracts, Commercial Operations, this position will be embedded into the Project Team. You will play a critical role in shaping contract strategy, mitigating risks, and unlocking opportunities across high-stakes nuclear and industrial projects.

 

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep expertise in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) project contracts, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration at the highest level and ability to lead a team of Contract Managers.

 

 

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria, hybrid work model.

 

 

 Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the full lifecycle of contract management - from project kick-off through execution and closure - for the ESC. 
  • Actively support the negotiations of the EP+C Contracts.
  • Conduct analysis of the current ESC and, once signed, of the EPC Contracts to identify potential risks, ambiguities, and opportunities, and implement proactive risk mitigation.
  • Develop contractual/claim strategy in full coordination with the Project Director, and opportunity plans in partnership with the Project Director. Seek advice from Legal to finalize amendment-change orders during the Project Execution phases.
  • Collaborate with Legal on dispute resolution, including mediation, litigation, and arbitration, ensuring reporting of major claims and critical project developments.
  • Coordinate with the insurance function and ensure that contract insurance provisions are observed.
  • Support Supply Chain and internal teams in structuring Purchase Orders, Contracts, and Subcontracts, guaranteeing the appropriate flow-down of prime contract terms.
  • Oversee export control compliance in collaboration with Legal, ensuring all contracts and projects meet regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Prepare executive-level reports, project reviews, and management briefings on contract execution, change orders, claims, and settlements.
  • Directly lead a team of Contract Managers fully dedicated to the Kozloduy Project.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Contract Management, Law, Business Administration, Cost Engineering, or Quantity Surveying.
  • 15+ years of experience in complex EPC industrial projects, with at least 10 years as a Lead Contract Manager on European projects in nuclear, power, oil and gas,  construction or automation sectors.
  • Ability to lead a team of Contract Managers reporting to this position in support to the project
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, drafting, risk assessment, change order management, and claims resolution.
  • Proficiency in English. Bulgarian language is recommended.
  • The ability to balance client requirements, company interests, and risk exposure while obtaining client agreement.
