Lead Design Civil EngineerManager

Your day to day: 

Supervises a group of engineering professionals and/or professional technical people performing a variety of engineering related duties.

Will Supervise within their respected engineering field. Works within general instructions in terms of objectives and priorities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities all other duties as assigned

• First level of direct and sustained supervision of other professional engineers or first level of full specialization.

• Requires application of mature engineering knowledge in planning and conducting projects having scope of independent accomplishment and co-ordination of difficult and responsible assignments.

• Assigned problems make it necessary to modify established guides, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new ways, and draw conclusions from comparative situations.

• Plans detailed methods of solving assigned problems such as; the design of new structures; modification or additions to existing structures; project concerned with product improvements, equipment or process changes.

• Delegates work to subordinates and guides work progress through to scheduled completion. Coordinates assignments with other groups.

• Ensures preparation of adequate documentation, specifications, prototypes, etc. May prepare, or oversee preparation of, cost estimates, engineering studies, reports etc.

• Requires effective project management, communication and work coordination skills. Ability to motivate staff and team leadership skills are required.

• Perform the job and task assigned. Being an effective team member with excellent organizational and time management skills, self-motivated, hardworking and flexible. • Being dependable; able to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

• Submit on time timesheets, journals and expense reports, updating them daily and consistently.

 

Leadership Authority Assigns and monitors the work of other professional engineers and/or technical engineering staff. Evaluates and disciplines staff. Makes recommendations regarding staff selection, development or termination.

May serve as a mentor.

 

Who you are:

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science, or equivalent.

 

Must possess or be in the process of possessing PEO and other relevant designations.

Years of Experience Related working experience from graduation-at least 12-15 years.

Must display the ability to manage conflict resolution and defuse emotions situations as they arise.

Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and obtain clarification; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings.
