Ontario Land Surveyor - willing to hold the Certificate of Authorization - Ontario, Canada

The ideal candidate is a Licensed Ontario Land Surveyor (Cadastral), has a strong working knowledge of surveying software, excellent communication and management skills and is eager to take on the role. A thorough understanding of surveying principles, standards and legislation is required. 
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Project Management including preparing all types of plans of survey (Subdivisions, Condominiums, Road Widenings, Boundary Retracements etc…). Performing and plotting survey calculations. Reviewing and checking all deliverables. Overseeing staff and working closely with the Party Chiefs & training new staff.

Your day to day: 
Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the successful completion of all projects
Review, check and sign all cadastral deliverables
Interact with governing bodies, planners, landowners, real estate agents and other interested parties
Oversee and ensure the technical quality of projects
Provide technical expertise in the areas of surveying methods, standard, and legislation
Maintain detailed and accurate records; prepare project reports, as well as correspondence relating to project work
Build and maintain client relationships to further business development activities
Write and/or direct the writing of land and legal descriptions and maps adhering to standard surveying practices
Develop and oversee detailed land survey plans
Utilize GPS and complex equipment
Conduct topographical surveys
Create and maintain detailed survey information
Research titles, deeds, previous surveys, maps and documents
Accurately manage spatial data
Interpret aerial photographs
Use of mapping software, CAD.
Create and maintain detailed records of spatial analysis.
Review and interpret newly produced assessments and reports for approval prior to distribution to internal departments
Ensure that a high degree of standardization is met with all contracts


Who you are: 
Education Level (Degree, Area of Study) – Minimum Requirement:    
BSc. in Applied Science, Geology or its equivalent.

Years of Experience (if applicable):    5+ 
Professional Certifications:    Member of the AOLS (Professional)
Skills and Competencies:    •    Demonstrate Leadership and Supervisory skills
•    Working knowledge on the Ontario Land Surveyors Act and other applicable regulations.
•    Strong working knowledge of complex surveyor’s tools and GPS equipment
•    Adaptable to changing priorities and procedures.

•    Excellent organizational, communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
