This is the Remote Role in Czech Republic.



Purpose of the job

The BUCM, in coordination with the Project Director, has overall responsibility to follow-up all project commercial activities. 


Organization and Reporting:

The BUCM reports directly to the EMEA BU Contract Management Leader. 


Responsibilities and Posting Description

The Business Unit Contract Manager is responsible for:


  • Supporting the project (s) execution start-up through contract analysis and preparation of the Project Commercial Execution Plan
  • Establishment and implementation of project specific contractual procedures, particularly regarding claims, insurance, variation orders, correspondence and notifications
  • Assume responsibility for all project commercial activities from hand-over from sales until all relevant commercial obligations are complete and all relevant commercial issues are resolved / settled.
  • Identification of customer/consortium and other third-party obligations and developing and implementing the Project Execution Strategy.
  • Liaise with the Project Planning Manager to ensure appropriate schedules are produced and maintained, to support Project Execution Strategy, including monitoring of penalty exposures
  • Support project risk and opportunity identification and analysis. Support the management of risks and opportunities by development and implementation of appropriate commercial action plans.
  • Preservation of our rights and entitlements in respect to contract, legislation and internal rules.
  • Support the elaboration and follow-up of supply and subcontractors’ contracts in order to make sure that back-to-back is made and all obligations are fulfilled.
  • Ensure proper notices are given in line with contractual requirements.
  • Management of changes and claims to / from customers and consortium partners.
  • Support the management of claims to / from contractors and sub-suppliers as required.
  • Control back-charges from site and ensuring appropriate recovery from third parties.
  • Management of project insurances. Submission monitoring and settlement of insurance claims in accordance with the policies.
  • Management of customer variation requests/orders.
  • Provide support and guidance to the project team on general contract issues. Clarification of contractual and legal queries, if required by referring to Legal department.
  • For above actions, reporting to Management to allow the control and monitoring of commercial issues for the project.

Travel after Covid:

  • It is expected that travel to the Local European offices or Project job sites will be required.

  • Trainings done (supports, number of employees trained).




Educational requirements


  • Educated to university degree level (BAC+5) and qualified in one of the following, contract management, law, business administration, engineering, finance, or project management. 


Knowledge / Experience


  • A minimum of five years’ experience of project commercial work preferable in a multicultural engineering or construction environment or contact management consulting.
  • Fluent in Czech & EnglishGerman language would be an advantage.

  • Strong commercial experience of contracts including contract drafting and the ability to identify and understand the salient points and issues.
  • The ability to assimilate contractual and legal issues quickly and have a solid track record of successful management of claims.
