Electical Designer

Electrical Designer - Location- Peterborough, Canada 

 

Your Day-to-Day:

 

The ability to carry out effective requirement capture from customer enquiries and technical specifications such that you are able to develop concept designs; perform preliminary engineering calculations; produce and review detailed drawings & bills of materials, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts; specify or evaluate appropriate purchased components; prepare written technical descriptions, reports and other technical documents; review of designs and drawings for accuracy, human factors, ease of assembly and manufacturability; knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code and its use for industrial applications.

 

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

 

Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Electrical 2020;

Proficient in the creation of technical documents and specifications

Knowledge of manufacturing methods and representation of those on drawings and design documents including welding symbols and notations

A thorough knowledge of drafting principles and standards to enable checking and verification of design drawings for compliance to applicable specifications.

 

Experience in the following would be advantageous:

Special purpose electrical control system design for nuclear applications

Knowledge of electrical power, control and instrumentation design; knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics systems

Preparation of proposals and project management of complex design programs

Capability to perform calculations to support sizing of power supplies, conductors and conduits

Working knowledge of PLC and relay logic control design

Experience in design and manufacturing of products for the nuclear market.

You will possess a post-secondary education Diploma or Degree from a recognized Electrical Engineering Technical Program, or have equivalent knowledge and experience in good academic standing.

As a minimum you will be a Design Technologist with at least 5 to 10 years practical experience in the field of electrical design.

 

This is a challenging position that will require a solid technical background and as you will be working as part of a team, strong interpersonal and communication abilities including literacy skills are essential. You will possess problem solving skills plus a creative yet methodical approach.
