Electrical Engineer

Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada. As a part of our growing team, you will be responsible for electrical design of specialized equipment and process systems, as well as support the execution of projects in our extensive manufacturing operation.

Your Day to Day:

  • Executing project engineering functions to ensure customer commitments are met
  • Providing input and/or oversight to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process
  • Reviewing and approving electrical design output
  • Preparing clear and concise technical documents, procedures, specifications
  • Performing Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
  • Supporting the marketing of our services via participation in bidding processes, including development of budget estimates and/or technical commentary for proposals
  • Supporting the manufacture of components, the resolution of manufacturing queries and assessment of non-conformances

 

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

 

  • Licensed P.Eng. member of Professional Engineers Ontario (Electrical Engineering)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processes
  • Experience with design of custom equipment, including:
    • Control system design
    • Low voltage power distribution (up to 600V)
    • PLC integration and programming
    • Integration and configuration of motion control components and systems
  • Experience in an equipment manufacturing environment
  • Experience with application of the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment

Preferred:

  • Experience interfacing with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendors
  • Experience with technical project management
  • Knowledge of, and experience with application of Human Factors standards, as they relate to equipment design
  • Experience in the Canadian nuclear industry
