Quality Lead - Primary Location Peterborough, Ontario, Canada 


Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of manufactured components, custom equipment and process systems for the Nuclear industry in Canada.  As a part of our growing operation in Peterborough, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the Quality function, leading a team focused on world class delivery of our commitments to our Nuclear industry customers.


Your day to day: 
•    Direct reporting responsibilities for a team of QA professionals supporting customer project needs
•    Managing functional resources so that they are adequately applied to deliver customer commitments, maintaining/improving the quality programs, and achieving financial commitments (e.g. project budgets, utilization, etc.)
•    Identifying top Pareto improvement themes and leading resolution action 
•    Over-seeing the issue resolution process such that it is effective and champion best quality practices
•    Establishing robust corrective & preventative action plans for major quality investigations & significant quality investigations.
•    Implementing and maintaining the Quality System that is consistent with the Westinghouse QMS and the unique aspects related to the Nuclear industry in Canada.
•    Delivering a strategy for learning local lessons and read across actions for the area, including sustaining awareness of quality issues across all employees and leadership
•    Continually developing the Quality team to the highest standards of technical and improvement capability
•    Deliver support for any supplier quality issues
•    Manage the internal/external audit program
•    Foster a positive work environment through coaching, engagement, empowerment and recognition.  Instill culture of collaboration and effective teamwork across various functions
•    Coordinate, review and approve estimates for prospective work (e.g. proposals)
•    All administrative functions related to managing the team
•    Some travel is required to support customers

Who you are: 
•    Minimum 7 years of experience in similar manufacturing environment
•    3+ years of relevant experience in a leadership role
•    Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree in a relevant technical field
•    Experience with direct reporting responsibility of a team of professionals 
•    Good understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques. 
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations.
•    Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment.
•    Experience and comfortable with interacting with, and presenting to, business leadership
•    Working knowledge of the relevant Nuclear quality standards (e.g. N299, N285)
•    P.Eng. in relevant field
•    5+ years of direct experience with relevant Nuclear quality standards (e.g. N299, N285)
•    Training and certification in Lean and Six-Sigma principles and other continuous improvement tools
•    Nuclear industry experience, CanDU preferred

This is a challenging position that will require a solid background in cross-disciplinary, technical project execution.  Strong interpersonal and communication abilities are essential to be successful in our team-based environment.  You will possess problem solving skills and a creative yet methodical approach.
