Fuel material engineer

Welcome to the department for Criticality Safety, Materials and Fuel Performance. a part of Westinghouse’s EMEA Fuel Engineering department. We are about 30 employees with a high level of expertise working with nuclear fuel materials, nuclear fuel performance and criticality.

You will be part of a group of materials specialists with a combined wealth of knowledge in metallic and ceramic materials and a lot of experience in production technology.

 

Your contribution for a carbon-free future  

As a Fuel material engineer you will be an important part of the team to contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at developing the materials used in our nuclear fuels. Based on your expertise in metallic materials, you will:

  • support our production facility with engineering challenges

  • support purchasing in the selection and qualification of materials and suppliers

With us, you build a broad network of contacts within the factory organization and have great opportunities to develop in material issues but also in related areas. Within Fuel Engineering, we work with all commonly occurring reactor types and in addition to material issues, we also work in other technical disciplines such as thermohydraulic, core physics and software development to mention a few.

 You will work onsite at Bränslegatan, Västerås.

To be a good match for this role, we believe that you are motivated by development and trust in your material expertise. You will typically participate in shorter as well as  in multi-year projects. Qualifications   

  • Master of science in engineering with focus on materials.

  • Knowledge of relevant material issues in metallic materials, especially positive if you have expertise in Zirconium materials.

  • Full professional proficiency in English and preferably Swedish, both spoken and written.

If you also have experience from nuclear power or nuclear fuel performance that is meritorious.
