Welcome to Westinghouse and the Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA) Fuel Engineering team. We are about 120 employees in areas such as mechanical and nuclear design, thermal hydraulics and testing, materials development, fuel performance analysis and project management. We work together to develop and license fuel and core components for reactors globally. You will be involved in the work that provides a critical contribution to the operation and business of nuclear power plants around the world.
As manager for The Development & Product Introduction team, you will lead a new team within the EMEA Fuel Engineer department. The team is a small but competence team of Product Technical Managers (PTMs), with responsibility for both hardware and technology products within EMEA Fuel Engineering, working closely with core design, thermal hydraulics, criticality analysis, materials, mechanical design, safety analysis, inspections and testing. You will support the team with their responsibility for nuclear fuel development to ensure safe and reliable operation of our products. You will also contribute to the growth of our business to provide a safe, reliable and cost-efficient energy source.
Your contribution for a carbon-free future
As Manager you will be part of a qualified and collaborative management team within EMEA Fuel Engineering, and work together with colleagues in the Global Nuclear Fuel Engineering organization.
Besides leading the team and being responsible for the daily operations, your responsibility includes:
- Implement and maintain structures and processes to ensure that the team meets their goals.
- Responsible for personnel, recruiting, budget and work environment.
- Work together with all stakeholders to develop and implement long-term strategies.
- Work both internally and externally to keep yourself and your team updated on the technical areas of your responsibility.
You will work onsite in Västerås, Sweden with the option to work remotely a few days per week. As a manager for a new team, we encourage you to be onsite as much as possible to start with.

To be successful in this role you have experience from previous leaderships roles and you have the following characteristics:
- You can motivate and coach engineers and technical leaders in all areas of their work, and lead through others.
- You create an atmosphere of teamwork both within your own team and in the company.
- You have great integrity, a quality mindset and understand the importance of compliance and nuclear safety.
Most important of all, you genuinely enjoy contributing to the development and success of your employees.
Qualifications
- Master degree of Science in a technical area.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in the nuclear industry, and preferably knowledge of nuclear fuel engineering or design from experience.
- You have previous successful experience from leading roles. Previous experience of management with responsibility of budget and work environment is meritorious.
- You have a general understanding of technical design analyses, and quality assurance.
- Professional proficiency in English and preferably also in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.
