About the role:

Welcome to Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel Factory and the Nuclear Safety Unit!

 

We are 20 employees in radiation protection, dosimetry, nuclear safety and radioactive waste who work together to maintain and develop radiation safety in our factory in Västerås.

  • Our nuclear fuel production spans everything from wet chemical processes, via mechanical processing of ceramic and metallic materials, to final assembly of products with high demands on quality.

  • Handling of large volumes of uranium makes our operations unique in the Nordic region.

 

You will help develop the safety analysis of our Swedish nuclear fuel plant and you will work in a complex and high-tech industry that contributes to a better climate.

Depending on interest and profile, the position provides good opportunities for development in several different areas, such as specific calculation models, incident investigation and emergency preparedness for nuclear accidents.

 

Responsibilities:

  • As a Nuclear Safety Engineer - probabilistic safety analysis, your work will consist of developing and revising our safety analysis, with a focus on the development of probabilistic methods and the implementation of probabilistic safety analyses. The position may also include work with deterministic safety analyses, reviews and incident investigations within the field.

  • Your work will be an important piece of the puzzle to ensure that we remain a safe workplace that can contribute to fossil-free power production.

  • Our fuel plant is a nuclear facility under the supervision of the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.

 

The position is based in Västerås, Sweden and you are expected to do most of your work on site in the fuel factory.

You will be reporting directly to Manager - Nuclear Safety.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Master of Science in Engineering or a master’s degree in for example chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering physics, physics or equivalent work experience

  • Fluency in both Swedish and English

  • 1+ years of experience in writing technical reports

  • Clear way of communicating and a natural focus on development

  • You appreciate analytical work and are curious to learn more about our nuclear activities and radiation protection.

-- Experience of work in the field of nuclear safety, accident investigation or knowledge of probabilistic methods for safety analysis

-- Knowledge of, or experience of, probabilistic methods for safety analysis will be considered an advantage.
