Welding Specialist, IWS, IWT or IWE

Are you organized and experienced in welding processes? Do you also want to work in a complex, high-tech industry and contribute to a better climate?

Welcome to BQ – Quality & Process and the Manufacturing Processes and Testing unit. We are 35 employees focused on developing the factory's manufacturing processes in welding technology, non-destructive testing, calibration, and materials testing. As the nuclear power industry evolves, Westinghouse is expanding the fuel factory, introducing new products into the process flow, which leads to the development of welding processes and new equipment.

 

Your Contribution to the Transition to Fossil-Free Energy

As a welding engineer, your main responsibility is to support us with welding technical expertise in development in the production. This includes:

  • Qualification and documentation of developed welding processes.
  • Support the factory's manufacturing units with questions that can arise.
  • Support and train personnel in welding processes
  • Participate in projects as a specialist in welding processes to support development and improvement work
  • Process monitoring and control
  • Review manufacturing documentation such as drawings, specifications, WPQR/WPS
  • Document manufacturing processes and present to customers
  • Contact with customers, suppliers, and other Westinghouse fuel factories

In your daily work, you contribute by ensuring the required quality is always achieved and that issues are raised and handled according to procedures.

You will work onsite at the Fuel Factory in Västerås. You will have good opportunities to work remotely one day a week when operations allow it.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience evaluating welded products against applicable standards such as ISO 5817
  • Experience working with processes from a welding engineer's perspective
  • Additional training focused on welding specialist, IWS, IWT or IWE
  • Professional proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Knowledge of welding processes, coaching and certification of welding personnel according to ISO 9606

 

Meritorious Experience

  • Work in manufacturing industry
  • Familiarity with ISO 3834 and related standards
  • Experience with stainless steel, Ni-based alloys, and Zr-alloys
  • Metallographic methods and evaluation
  • Robot programming/automation
  • NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods
  • Work in nuclear technology operations
