Welcome to Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel Factory and our Nuclear Safety Unit. We are 20 employees within radiation protection, dosimetry, nuclear safety and radioactive waste who work together to maintain and develop nuclear safety in our factory in Västerås.

 

About the role:

As a Radiation Protection Engineer you will ensure that we keep the workplace safe with respect to ionizing radiation. You will be a key player in our work with radiation protection and dosimetry, with focus on measurement methods, dose impact analysis for potential exposure situations and internal dose calculation.

 

You will report to the Manager Nuclear Safety and be located at Västerås. You will do most of the work on-site at our fuel factory.

 

Main Responsibilities:

Our fuel factory are subject to both the Radiation Protection Act and the Nuclear Activities Act. Your main responsibilities will be

  • Ensuring we meet all requirements in the field of radiation protection.
  • Developing our work with radiation protection and dosimetry.
  • Taking part in audits and incident investigations within the subject area

We handle large volumes of uranium, which makes our operations unique in the Nordic region, and places high demands on our personnel regarding precision and quality.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Physics, Medical Physics, Engineering Physics or similar.
  • 5+ years experience in the field of radiation protection. Preferable from the nuclear or medical field.
  • Professional proficiency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.

 

Meritorious

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Knowledge in external and internal dosimetry
  • Experience holding courses for others
