Radiation Protection Engineer

Welcome to Westinghouse’s nuclear fuel factory and the unit for radiological safety! We are 15 employees in areas such as radiation protection, dosimetry and investigation who works together to oversee and develop the nuclear safety in the factory here at Västerås.

  

Your contribution for a carbon-free future
 
As a radiation protection engineer here with us, your main responsibility is to ensure that the nuclear fuel factory is a radiologically-safe workplace with minimal environmental impact.

 

In the role, you have responsibility for exemption and, together with other engineers and technicians, you will measure, analyze and make decisions on how to move forward with the material depending on its content of radionuclides. You also have responsibility over requirement interpretation and internal training on radiation safety.

 

A strategic goal for the nuclear fuel factory is to reduce the amount of nuclear waste and we believe you to be a central piece for further development by implementing and improving methods for exemption.

 

The role is in Västerås, Sweden, and you are expected to perform your job on site in the factory.

We are looking for you 
 

To be a good match for this role, we believe that you are meticulous and a quality-minded person with focus on progress and results. You are motivated to work in a safe environment when working with ionizing radiation and conduct your work in a responsible, safe, and sustainable way. You have experience in working with, and interpreting data from, different measuring instruments and knowledge in how to write clear and educational documents. Experience in gamma spectroscopy is helpful as is experience or knowledge about radiation protection according to SSMFS 2018:3.

 

We believe you excel in an environment with focus on safety and personal responsibility, surrounded by experience colleagues and that you lead your work with complex questions.

 

 

Qualifications 
 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in the science subjects
  • Experience and knowledge how to handle different radiological measurement instruments
  • Fluent in English, both in speaking and writing. Knowledge in Swedish is helpful.
