Controls (Hardware / Controls) Engineer
The NSSS Control System Hardware Engineer develops network architecture and cabinet designs for control systems. A detailed list of the roles/responsibilities for this position are provided below:
- Gather network requirements to design and document network architecture. This includes system design, network control cabinets, and other necessary aspects of NSSS Control systems
- Design, install, and evaluate network and control systems
- Assist sys-admin with programming network and controls equipment
- Work collectively to improve network solutions, supporting documentation, and contribute to network improvements.
- Design and send to drafting for final creation of control cabinets
- Perform and document project specific design analyses with the simulation model.
- Perform Pre-FAT activities to support Software Implementation, including working with the project hardware/software WEC team members.
- Monitor and manage cabinet builds with panel builders.
- Understand and drive interfaces with Safety Analysis, Licensing, Setpoint Uncertainties, Fluid Systems, Nuclear Operations, Plant Operations, Plant Systems, Plant Licensing, Plant Reactor Engineering, etc.
- Support the project through Simulator FAT, Hardware FAT, and System Installation.
- Support innovation projects to help reduce barriers for team to perform, and/or reduce costs
- Provide support for emergent issues for operating plants with digital upgrade systems (i.e., walk-in work).
- Provide support for emergent issues for operating plants with analog legacy systems (i.e., walk-in work).
Qualifications for NSSS Control System Functional Designer
- Controls Engineering, Network or similar field experience
- Minimum 5 years experience recommended. Absence of degree can be circumvented with relevant networking certifications or previous work performed.
- Interest/passion in control system design, simulation models, and I&C design.
- Familiarity in electronics and/or computers.
- Preferred: Experience with computer simulations based on first principals and using codes such as Matlab, LOFTRAN, RETRAN, Advanced Continuous Simulation Language (ACSL), or other simulation codes.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $69,200 to $86,500 annually.
