Principal Functional and System Design Engineer

We are looking to hire a principal engineer to lead the design and implementation of safety related Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems using the Common Q platform. Individuals will lead the functional and system design, in conjunction with subject matter experts, supporting both the operating and new plant design projects.  In addition, the individual will provide technical leadership and contribute to the development and cost estimating for various customer offers.

Primary Responsibilities of Position:

Overall technical leadership on the design and implementation of Common Q Safety Systems including:

• Review and interpretation of customer input drawings, documentation, and requirements
• Development of Functional Logic Diagrams, Setpoint and Configuration Data, and System Databases
• Development of Design Requirement Specifications, System Specification Documents, and Technical Manuals
• Generation of Design Calculations and Analyses
• Support of System Integration activities, including interfacing with the customer and internal groups
• Scoping and cost estimating impacts related to design changes on existing designs
• Develop technical description for Common Q safety systems offers to upgrade the global operating plant fleet as well as new build opportunities.
• Schedule development and cost estimating of functional and system design activities for Common Q Safety System projects.   

Minimum Requirements:

• BS in Electrical Engineering or other related technical discipline.
• 8+ Years of Experience
• Strong technical interest, including a desire and willingness to learn.
• Ability to apply fundamental mathematical, statistical, and engineering principles
• Ability to work within a team as well as work independently.
• Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) design and analyses basis, summary of results, proposed solutions, and implementation instructions to customers and team members
• Must be detail oriented
• Possess strong organizational skills
• Experience with the Common Q platform desired but not mandatory.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
