The Project Portfolio Manager position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the leadership supporting Westinghouse’s efforts to support the operating fleet of nuclear power plants in the Americas. This position will provide direct leadership to project managers responsible for supporting several utility customers in the United States to deliver successful Instrumentation and Controls upgrades and support from project bid and proposal activities through design, build, test, delivery, and ultimately commissioning of the projects at site.
The Project Portfolio Manager is a critical role responsible for supporting the successful delivery of projects with safety and quality as the primary drivers through successful planning and project execution. The Project Portfolio Manager will be responsible for the effective staffing of the project organization and interface closely with business unit and engineering leadership to ensure project managers are qualified, assigned appropriately, and have the support necessary to be successful.
Your Day-to-Day
- Ensure project management staffing, qualification, and development in alignment with business needs
- Interface with customers to ensure a point of escalation to resolve project issues
- Remove barriers to enable project success through problem-solving and issue resolution
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with Westinghouse and Americas ICS project management requirements
- Collaborate with customer solutions, accounts, and sales teams to support business and offer development activities
- Ensure projects are executing on-schedule and take action to recover as necessary
- Ensure project financials are forecasted and executing in alignment with project needs and budgets
- Provide project oversight through recurring project reviews
- Provide mentorship and guidance to project management staff
- Develop and support continuous improvement and strategic initiatives relevant to the business and project execution processes
- Support and lead portfolio wide efforts related to reporting, transformation, etc.
Who You Are
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
- MBA or advanced degree is preferred
- PMP certification (or desire to obtain) is preferred
- Experience: 10 years of experience with at least 5 years of progressive, hands-on project management or project controls experience on complex, technical projects
- Nuclear industry and instrumentation and controls experience strong preferred
- Familiarity with PMBOK project management processes required
- Skills: Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, SAP, Excel), strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, leadership and people management skills
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, highly organized, ability to work under pressure, and ability to function independently
Work Environment
- This position will have direct reporting project managers and work within a fast-paced, matrixed organization
- This role is a mobile role with the expectation of 2-days per week in the Warrendale, PA office on average
- Some travel may be necessary to customer sites, vendor facilities, and / or other Westinghouse locations. Travel is estimated to be approximately 10%.
