Lead a team of 5-15 software engineers (Westinghouse and contractors) who are experienced and focus the Instrumentation & Control (I&C) safety common Q software, specifically on the Flat Pannel Display Systems (FPDS) and the Safety Human System Interface (SHMI)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the effective performance of the safety software team. This include but not limited to the team working consistent with the I&C safety system’s Software Program Manual (SPM) meet the planned cost (including utilization of resources to meet assigned targets), ensuring the team work in a Nuclear safety culture as well as personnel and Industrial safety awareness.
- Prepare and successfully identify needed training and development plans for Common Q software team with emphasis on critical project needs as well as long-term resource needs. Focus on identifying & targeting engineering skills to ensure an added value to the customer.
- Develop innovative solutions in the safety software developmental process and products to meet customers and business needs. This includes process automation projects in the software area – identifying “breakthrough” process improvements, technologies, and cost improvement objectives.
- Provide leadership for the team to work in collaboration with other I&C teams (e.g. hardware, interface with non-safety systems and software) as well as other Westinghouse organizations (e.g. plant and field components, safety analysis, etc…)
- Supervise the Common Q / PMS software team to evaluate new opportunities, develop and proposed solutions, provide cost estimates to those solutions and quantified risks for new opportunities to support the WEC I&C bid and proposal phase.
- Orchestrate and continuously improve cost efficient product delivery which meets or exceeds business plan objectives
- Drive continuous improvement and standardization in the safety software area
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or related field.
Minimum 7 years of leadership with instrumentation & control experience. Prefer knowledge and experience in the Common Q software
Professional Certifications:
MSEE, MBA, PE preferred but not required

- Demonstrated ability to oversee engineering activities and opportunity management, conveying feedback on customer satisfaction, needs and opportunities.
