You will lead the technical development and implementation of complex activities. These activities include engineering, licensing, regulatory, waste management, and environmental permitting, all supporting AP1000 PWR projects in Poland. Specifically, you will implement Site Licenses and Construction Licenses for applications in the country. You will be a senior technical authority and trusted advisor for licensing and regulatory strategy, providing expert guidance on nuclear regulatory frameworks, site suitability assessments, environmental permitting, and regulatory engagement activities. We are looking for advanced technical expertise, to complex engineering and licensing challenges. The Principal Engineer will work with customers, regulators, project leadership, and versatile engineering teams to support project licensing goals, ensure and facilitate regulatory reviews. You will be recognized as a subject matter expert in one or more technical disciplines and will provide mentoring and technical leadership across the organization.

 

You will report to the Senior Manager and be located at Warsaw office. You will work in hybrid model with 2 days at office.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a technical contributor for complex nuclear licensing, waste management, environmental permitting, and regulatory projects supporting AP1000 deployment and future advanced nuclear technologies.

  • Develop, review, and provide technical oversight of licensing basis documents, regulatory submissions, technical reports, engineering analyses, and safety documentation for nuclear projects.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in Polish nuclear regulations and support agreement on international regulatory standard practices.

  • Lead the resolution of complex technical and regulatory issues through engineering analysis, partner engagement, and risk-informed decision-making.

  • Support development of Construction License Applications (CLA), Operating License Applications, site permits, and other nuclear regulatory submissions.

  • Support technical evaluations and regulatory assessments related to radioactive waste management, spent fuel management, waste disposal concepts, and associated licensing activities for nuclear facilities and installations.

  • Evaluate technical, regulatory, and waste management risks and develop mitigation strategies to support project goals.

  • Guide project teams in developing technical strategies that support successful licensing outcomes and regulatory acceptance.

  • Establish daily operational goals for individuals or small teams and ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, quality requirements, and engineering standards.

  • Coordinate versatile engineering teams and external technical experts to ensure successful project execution.

  • Promote technical consistency and quality across project deliverables through independent review and expert guidance.

  • Lead customer-facing technical discussions and present complex engineering and regulatory topics to executive management, regulators, and external partners.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, technical innovation, and enhanced licensing efficiency across projects.

  • Budget responsibilities associated with functional area scope.

  • Identify and define technical challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution.

     

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy Systems, or related technical discipline

  • 10+ years of applicable experience

  • Fluent knowledge of Polish and English

  • Demonstrated expertise in nuclear licensing, regulatory affairs, waste management, environmental permitting, or related technical disciplines.

  • Experience with Polish nuclear legislation and regulatory processes.

  • Familiarity with international nuclear safety standards and regulatory frameworks, including IAEA guidance and European nuclear regulatory practices.

  • Experience resolving complex technical and regulatory challenges.

  • Experience supporting interactions with regulatory authorities, customers, and senior partners.

  • Technical writing skills

  • Availability to travel 10-20% of the time

 

 

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The gross base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be 13,916 to 17,350 PLN gross per month. In addition to the base pay, this role may be eligible for incentive pay based on company and individual performance.
