As a Sustainability Expert, you will be a subject matter expert supporting the integration of sustainability principles, customer requests, and regulatory requirements across major nuclear infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in supporting the Polish AP1000 project. The long-term objective is to contribute to other Westinghouse projects across Europe. These projects will involve topics related to environmental sustainability, such as carbon emissions and waste streams. They will also cover social topics, including human rights and labor. Additionally, they will involve supply chain engagement and sustainability-related risks, such as climate and ESG.

You will work with Corporate Sustainability, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other team members to ensure agreement on our goals and projects. You will report to the relevant Functional Manager. The team works in a hybrid model, with at least three days per week based at the Warsaw office.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a subject matter expert in sustainability, with a focus on EU regulatory frameworks and their practical implementation in large-scale projects related to topics across ESG areas

  • Support the AP1000 project in Poland by integrating sustainability considerations into project development.

  • Provide expertise on EU Taxonomy and other relevant EU sustainability regulations, ensuring compliance and agreement on project goals.

  • Translate regulatory requirements into practical, applicable guidance for project teams.

  • Support Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and related whole life carbon (WLC) analyses.

  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project control teams to ensure you embed sustainability across all project phases and consider sustainability related risks.

  • Engage with all partners to agree on sustainability goals and reporting requirements.

  • Monitor new sustainability regulations and best practices, providing recommendations for continuous improvement for Polish and other Westinghouse projects in Europe.

  • Help develop sustainability strategies for our projects across Europe.

  • Be a trusted advisor to project leadership on sustainability-related risks, opportunities, and compliance matters.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Energy, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Extensive experience in sustainability within large infrastructure or industrial projects - experience in sectors such as nuclear, energy, industrial, or other large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • Experience with supply chain sustainability and sustainability related risk

  • Knowledge of EU Taxonomy and related regulatory frameworks, with experience applying them in real projects.

  • Familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), GWP, and whole life carbon methodologies.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex regulations into practical application.

  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders at different levels.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Experience working in an international project environment is an advantage.

  • Fluency in Polish and English.

 

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The gross base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be 17,000 to 21,250PLN gross per month. In addition to the base pay, this role may be eligible for incentive pay based on company and individual performance.
