The Director of Government Affairs is the leader responsible for developing, leading, and executing legislative strategy for Westinghouse. The incumbent represents the company’s interests before the U.S. government (Congress, Executive Offices, and Agencies), key third parties (associations, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, etc.) and States.  As a registered lobbyist for Westinghouse Electric Company, the incumbent will leverage expertise and relationships with members of Congress and Congressional staff to achieve Westinghouse’s public policy goals.  The position works closely with key internal business stakeholders and partners with executive and board leadership to leverage governmental advocacy strategies.


Your Day to Day:

  • Develop and implement effective legislative strategies for key business priorities involving nuclear energy, trade issues, and business issues related to fair competition.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Vice President of Government and International Affairs and senior Westinghouse business partners on legislative developments affecting the company and the nuclear industry.
  • Monitor and assess state and local political and public policy to determine where legislative and regulatory action is advisable.
  • Proactively evaluate legislation, federal agency program funding, specifically for programs at the Departments of Energy, Defense, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, as well as the political environment.
  • Manage federal and state consultants and trade association resources to achieve Westinghouse’s legislative goals.
  • Deliver timely communications to internal stakeholders regarding legislative/policy developments that could impact the business to ensure an opportunity to influence outcome.
  • Develop a strategy for the company's use of the Political Action Committee (PAC) and ensure compliance with the FEC Regulations.


Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years of experience in lobbying, public administration, legislative staff work, or related experience.
