The Vice President, Government and International Affairs will lead Westinghouse’s strategy and engagement with the U.S. Government (Executive Offices, Agencies, Congress), and key third parties (associations, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, foreign government representatives, etc.). They will have success leading a fast paced, complex Government Affairs function, possessing a demonstrated reputation for excellence and integrity in the government affairs community.
The Vice President, Government & International Affairs will have a track record of driving integrated campaigns to support corporate business priorities, including in appropriations, export advocacy, export controls and other policy and regulatory areas. S/He/They will promote a collaborative work environment with colleagues across Westinghouse’s business units and the government affairs office, with a client service mindset. Candidate will have a drive to win and outcomes-oriented approach to strategic planning.
The Vice President, Government & International Affairs will have and build a strong network of relationships with policymakers, domestically and globally. The incumbent will leverage expertise and relationships with governmental and industry stakeholders to achieve Westinghouse’s overall advocacy agenda, promoting civil nuclear exports globally. S/He/They will be the leading face of the company in Washington, D.C., and will have strong, high-level relationships with policymakers and officials.
Your Day to Day:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Vice President, Government Solutions and Corporate Affairs, and senior Westinghouse leaders, leading across political, policy, and regulatory priorities.
- Develop and implement effective advocacy campaigns for key business priorities requiring U.S. Government advocacy or approval.
- Position Westinghouse effectively in broader public policy community and ensure the Company is among the leading industry voices for key legislative and policy priorities.
- Proactively identify and secure new opportunities for Westinghouse for government funding or support.
- Responsible for federal, state and local government relations, as well as Embassy relationships (DC and overseas).
- Spearhead Westinghouse's participation in outside business councils and trade associations
- Represent Westinghouse interests in Cabinet and ministerial-level meetings.
Who You Are:
- Masters Degree Preferred
- 15+ years of experience in government or private sector dealing with trade advocacy issues.
- Expertise in dealing with high-profile stakeholders such as elected officials, foreign government officials, executives, and a variety of external constituencies; including ability to influence and navigate complex political landscape.
- Advanced knowledge U.S. Government agency policies and workings. Knowledge of energy sector issues a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex policy issues and develop innovative strategies and solutions.
- Possess strong analytical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills, the ability to speak and write persuasively and a proven track record of being able to work under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with proven ability to work across international regions and cultures.
