About the role:

As a Environment, Health & Safety Representative you will provide leadership and support for the OPS - Canada Operations. The primary goal is to implement and improve processes to ensure the safe and regulatory compliant execution of all OPS Canada Activities (from EHS perspective) . You will report to the QAEHS Director and direct and lead all of the daily operations and activities for EHS of the OPS-Canada personnel EHS Lead for all OPS Canada Projects and EHS Oversight of all activities at Burlington, Kitchener, Port Elgin and Wingham offices and sites controlled for these offices. You will work 3 days onsite or as needed on site at one of these locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implements, and directs environmental health and safety policies, programs and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and regulations

  • Lead comprehensive cross discipline EH&S improvement plans

  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce EHS risk in all facilities assigned

  • Ensure decision-making on programmatic issues in environmental health and safety

  • Work with peer leaders regarding their ownership for daily operations related to EH&S excellence

  • Ensure investigation and reporting of environmental health and safety associated incidents

  • Enhance environmental health and safety procedures related to events

  • Provide EHS leadership and training to the organisation personnel

  • Engage and influence entities including corporate organizations and regulators

  • Perform internal and suppliers EHS Audits

  • Ensure that regulatory and customer requirements for recording are met (for assigned facilities)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Life Sciences (Nursing, Kinesiology, etc.)

  • 5 Years overall EHS experience with at least 2 years in a nuclear or construction environment. Preferable OPG or Bruce Power Experience

  • Knowledge of environmental health and safety laws and regulations and their application in a Construction, industrial and office environment – prefer EHS Construction experience

  • Knowledge of state, federal and international regulations and experience working with regulatory agencies

  • Experience managing teams in large organisations and creating system

  • Conflict Resolution skills
