About the role:

As a Project Cost Controller, you will provide financial support across a portfolio of engineering and project-based work, helping ensure planning, forecasting, cost control, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle. Working with Project Managers and business stakeholders, you will maintain budgets and forecasts, monitor project performance, and provide financial insights that support informed decision-making. You will also help strengthen portfolio reporting through dashboards, performance metrics, and consolidated financial reporting across multiple business units. This is an individual contributor role that offers the opportunity to support strategic planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and the delivery of projects that contribute to Westinghouse's clean energy mission.

 

You will report to the Senior Project Portfolio Manager and be assigned at one of our locations in Burlington, Peterborough, Port Elgin, or Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. This position will be offered as a hybrid role. Employees working in hybrid roles are expected to work onsite at the ir assigned office location 2 days per week and may work from home 3 days per week, subject to business needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and financial performance monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts for project costs, revenue, margins, and resource requirements while identifying and addressing discrepancies.
  • Monitor project and portfolio performance, highlighting risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Consolidate financial data and prepare portfolio reports, forecasts, and performance summaries for business leadership.
  • Develop dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools using Power BI, Excel, and other business intelligence platforms.
  • Analyse project cost data and actual performance to support business planning, portfolio projects, and bid development activities.
  • Lead continuous improvement through reporting automation, process optimisation, and the development of standardised project controls tools and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in project controls, cost management, forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, project management, or related disciplines within a project-based environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent.
  • Experience with project cost control methodologies, forecasting techniques, variance analysis, and financial performance measurement.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and project performance reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Experience supporting multiple Project Managers and managing reporting across a portfolio of projects.
  • Ability to travel occasionally within Ontario to support business needs.

 

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $106,000 to $132,500 per year. In addition to the base pay, this role may be eligible for incentive pay based on company and individual performance.
